How to Choose What You Believe: Women, Rage, and the Propaganda We Were Sold

This week on the podcast we bring you a solo cast on anger, beliefs, and propaganda. What images and narratives are we sold that have the power to shape our belief system? How is this propaganda informing our self-image, our value system, and ultimately our life experience? In this episode, we connect the dots between perfectionism, anxiety, and propaganda.

We are surrounded by narratives that have the power to influence us deeply. When I check in with my perfectionism, it invites me to ask what imagery I am using in my imagination to create the expectation of what is good enough or what is perfect. If when I play a movie in my brain, it hijacks my nervous system, elicits an emotion, which then has a likelihood to influence my behavior, then the question becomes, what images are we using for that motivation and where did they come from?

If propaganda is here to stay (and it is not all evil) but information is spreading like wildfire and we aren’t sure what is true or real, I want us to be able to recognize something as propaganda and then decide consciously how we engage. Because here is the thing, propaganda can be an incredibly inspiring tool. It can show you parts of yourself you have not yet discovered and it can leave clues to help you find your own unique path in life.

So if everything is potentially propaganda; movies, television, the news, speeches, the stories we were told about who we are supposed to be; don’t we want to choose for ourselves what movies we are playing in our mind? Shouldn’t it be our right to decide what emotions we engage and ultimately how we choose to behave?

If you have been wrestling with some anger, wanting to make decisions from your own inner knowing, and desire to be the one who chooses her own belief system, this episode is for you.

Tune in for how to choose imagery for an inner world so beautiful that it starts to reflect as real in the external world.
